This is a masterplanning project that includes a Buddhist retreat centre, a mass auditorium, a buddhist museum and a golf course. The client was Savills Property Services (Beijing) Company Limited.
The masterplan will comprise of the following five major functional spaces: a Temple, a Buddhist Museum, a Cultural Exchange Centre, a Monastery, a Hotel; forming three main zones: the Buddhist Cultural Zone, meditation Zone and the Interactive Zone (for commercial activities). Each zone houses different functions, but the overall architectural language should coherent. The choices of material and spatial sequences and arrangement of buildings are responses to the surrounding beautiful sceneries.
The Temple, Museum and the Cultural exchange Centre will form the Buddhist Cultural Zone, a major anchor point of the masterplan that is open to all. Both the Museum and the Cultural Exchange Centre located next to the lake. The form for the Cultural Exchange Centre is Iconic and it is manifested by simple geometries and it is forming the gateway of the complex by the waterfront.
