The chair that we are re-designing is an old chair from a floral shop that is situated at the junction between Gutzlaff Street and Gage Street, which is located at the Central outdoor market.
We have selected this old chair because of its history. Day-by-day, the floral shop keeper and the chair have been quietly observing the bustle neighborhood and soaking-in the street gossips, chatters between office ladies, demanding lovers, etc. The chair is like an old plastic record which have engraved the sounds of the city. The sound that the floral keeper have been hearing for 20 years are now converted into a soundtrack: the sound waves are materialized as a sculpture hence forming the soundscape.
